Comprehensive Exams

A comprehensive dental exam is a necessary measure that helps you maintain your dental health. Comprehensive dental care is essential for both prevention and early detection, as well as accurate diagnoses of oral and other diseases.

Oral Cancer Screenings

During an oral cancer examination, a dentist or doctor looks for signs of cancer or any precancerous conditions. Early oral cancer detection allows for a greater chance of curing it, and most dentists perform mouth examinations during routine dental visits.

X-Rays

Periodontal therapy encompasses an umbrella of terms for a variety of different treatments you may need to help treat gum disease. Also known as periodontal disease, gum disease is common but fairly preventable with the right care.

Fluoride Treatments

Fluoride treatments use a highly concentrated rinse, varnish, gel, or foam that’s applied with a brush, swab, tray, or mouthwash. Your dentist may ask you to avoid eating or drinking for half an hour after treatment.

Mouthguards

Mouthguards, also called mouth protectors, are designed to help lessen facial trauma and minimize the risk of broken teeth and lip, tongue, or jaw injuries. They usually cover a patient’s upper teeth and can protect soft mouth tissue.

Anesthesia

Dental anesthesia is a type of controlled substance that temporarily puts the patient to sleep or numbs an area to reduce pain. Sedation dentistry uses anesthesia to help lessen discomfort, control pain, and make the patient feel more relaxed.

TMJ Treatment

Temporomandibular joint dysfunction, also called TMJ or TMJ dysfunction, is related to problems with your jaw as well as the muscles in your face that control it. Common treatments for TMJ include medications, physical therapy, and bite guards.

Sleep Apnea Treatment

Sleep apnea is a disorder marked by breathing that stops and starts. Signs may include loud snoring and feeling tired after a full night of sleep. Treatment may require lifestyle changes like weight loss or the use of breathing machines.

Emergency Care

At Signature Smiles, our talented dental staff will see anyone with a dental emergency during normal office hours and do our best to get them in on the same day. Off-hours emergencies are limited to existing patients.

I took my 7 year old daughter to see Dr. Schweizer for an emergency appointment after she had a skateboard accident. They were able to get us in immediately and the whole experience at their office was wonderful.
