Fillings

At Signature Smiles by Dr. Mike Schweizer, dental fillings are made from 100% composite material. Also referred to as tooth fillings or cavity fillings, dental fillings can be used as a solution to painful cavities. Dentists will remove the decayed portion of a tooth and then fill in that area with the appropriate material. Fillings can also be used to repair teeth that are broken, cracked, or worn down due to nail-biting, tooth grinding, or other forms of misuse.

Porcelain Inlays/Porcelain Onlays

Porcelain inlays and onlays are custom fillings that are permanently cemented to your teeth. Inlays are used to repair teeth with large fillings or that have been damaged by decay or trauma. Onlays are used when one or more of your chewing cusps has been affected and also need to be restored. Both types can be used as a way of conservatively repairing teeth with broken fillings or teeth that have been damaged due to trauma or decay.

Crowns/Bridges

A dental crown can be used to cap a damaged or decayed tooth and can be placed on top of an implant to replace a missing tooth. Bridges are solely used as a replacement for one or more missing teeth. They feature one crown on either side of where the missing tooth should be and work by joining an artificial tooth to dental implants or adjacent teeth.

Dentures & Partials

Dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth as well as the surrounding tissue. Complete dentures can be used when all of the teeth are missing, and partial dentures can be used when only some of the teeth are missing. Both complete and partial dentures consist of false teeth attached to a plastic base that is the same color as your gums.

Endodontics

Endodontics is the branch of dentistry that is concerned with the treatment and study of dental pulp. Endodontic treatment, also called root canal treatment, treats the soft pulp tissue that is inside of your teeth. A root canal consists of the removal of the damaged or infected tooth pulp, cleaning and disinfecting your root canal system, filling it in, sealing it, and placing a composite filling or crown over it.

Oral Surgery

Oral surgery, also called maxillofacial surgery, is a type of surgical specialty that focuses on reconstructing the face. Oral surgery may be a result of facial trauma, tooth loss caused by gum disease, or other dental issues. It can include the oral cavity, mouth, jaw, head, neck, and facial cosmetic surgery. This specialized type of dentistry may require additional training on top of a dentist’s usual qualifications.
